BRIT forges a Special Relationship with the British Ski and Snowboard National Foundation

We are thrilled that Elizabeth Winfield, Director at the British Ski and Snowboard National Foundation (BSSNF), is supporting BRIT and are delighted that the BSSNF are encouraging their athletes to join our BRIT Ambassador family.

THE BSSNF gives more young people in the UK the opportunity to participate and develop their skills in skiing and snowboarding and supports talented young skiers and snowboarders to ensure that financial obstacles don’t prevent them from excelling in their chosen sport.

The Foundation works alongside existing organisations to ensure that vital funding is spent where it is needed most and will be of greatest benefit to their athletes. They work with GB Snowsports, Snowsport England, Snowsport Wales and Snowsport Scotland as well as clubs, academies and facilities.

Young UK Snowsport athletes spend a great deal of time away from home, often require significant financial backing and to become successful takes immense dedication. Athletes also experience the highs and lows of competition and therefore maintaining good mental health and fitness, with a supportive team around them, is crucial. Many young athletes have been, or are, students, and we are delighted that so many Snowsport athletes are keen to join the BRIT Ambassador family to support and improve young adult mental health in the UK.

We are honoured to have forged a special relationship with the BSSNF.

“We are extremely proud to be forming a special relationship between the British Ski and Snowboard National Foundation (BSSNF) and The British Inspiration Trust (BRIT).

The BRIT Vision of supporting and improving young adult mental health and fitness throughout the UK, resonates with our staff and athletes at the BSSNF; we understand that preventing and supporting the mental health and wellbeing needs of young adults is vitally important; particularly as the COVID-19 pandemic has compounded existing mental health challenges.

By uniting the Education, Sport and Charity sectors, and building strong relationships with universities and colleges, BRIT are delivering an annual UK-wide feel-good February fundraiser that every student and young adult can take part in, all while raising much needed funds for local, regional and national charities.

The BSSNF applauds BRIT for designing the annual BRIT Challenge to be inclusive so that students and staff of all abilities can take part in many different ways; by hand-cycling, cycling, wheelchair pushing, swimming, walking, jogging, running, rowing or paddling (canoeing, kayaking or paddle-boarding).

BRIT Ambassadors play a vital role in encouraging universities and colleges to enter teams in the BRIT Challenge, inspiring students and young adults to take part and destigmatising mental health; we will be encouraging our Snow and Para-snow athletes to join the BRIT Ambassador family and unite in support of improving young adult mental health in the UK.”
