We are delighted that Paul Jenkins OBE, Chair of the Mental Health Network Board at the NHS Confederation, is supporting BRIT and championing our work to support young adult mental health throughout the UK.
The NHS Confederation is the authentic voice of NHS leadership. They are the only membership body that brings together, and speaks on behalf of, the whole health and care system.
This level of support and recognition from Paul is both humbling and encouraging as we strive to unite every UK university and college through our annual BRIT Challenge, collaborate with the charity, education and sport sectors and invite British Sporting Icons to join our BRIT Ambassador family in order to inspire, encourage and support young adults and students.
"The NHS Confederation has over 560 member organisations and as a Confedaration we bring our members together and speak on behalf of the whole NHS. As Chair of the Mental Health Network Board at the NHS confederation, Chief Executive of the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust and through my previous role as CEO of Rethink Mental Illness, I have gained a wealth of clinical and leadership experience and am acutely aware of the increase in young adult mental health difficulties throughout the UK.
The mental health impact of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic is undoubtedly increasing the pressures on young adults, including existing mental health challenges, and therefore the provision of appropriate support has never been so important.
We need innovative and visionary organisations to support young adult mental health and I applaud, and wholeheartedly champion, BRIT’s approach to collaborate with governing bodies, charities and education institutions.
Not only are BRIT engaging HE & FE students throughout the UK with inclusive physical challenges to improve mental health and fitness; they are determined to use the BRIT 2021 Challenge to raise vital funds for mental health charities who support young adults.”
