We are delighted that Rose has joined our BRIT Ambassador family.
Rose has represented the Great Britain and the Welsh Hockey Teams, amassing over 70 international caps. She is a Mentor with the True Athlete Project and a Diversity Champion, and member of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion working group, at Hockey Wales.
“Having been a student, working as a Mentor for the True Athlete Project and competing as an elite athlete for almost 10 years, I have spent a great deal of time with young adults, students and children. This has enabled me to understand the many mental health challenges that young adults struggle with, including feelings of isolation and battling with depression.
COVID-19 is compounding existing mental health challenges and many charities are seeing an increase in demand for the vital support they provide. This is a critical time when we all need to work more closely together to ensure students and young adults receive the right support as quickly as possible. I applaud BRIT for their collaborative approach, and partnerships, with PAPYRUS – Prevention of Young Suicide, Nightline Association, Student Minds and the Charlie Waller Trust. This means that all donations raised by the BRIT 2021 Challenge will be shared equally between five mental health charities who support students and young adults.
The BRIT 2021 Challenge is an inspiring opportunity to help support and improve young adult mental health and fitness throughout the UK. I am delighted that the challenge has been designed to be inclusive and is enabling students and staff of all abilities to take part. To ensure every student has the opportunity to participate, it would be great if every UK university, college and student union embraces the BRIT 2021 Challenge, enters teams and encourages their students and staff to take part; at home or on campus.
I urge my fellow retired and current Olympians, Paralympians and athletes to join our BRIT Ambassador family and unite to both encourage universities and colleges to enter teams and inspire young adults and students to take part in the BRIT 2021 Challenge. It would be fantastic if every Welsh university and college enter teams; this would provide the opportunity for students and young adults throughout Wales to take part in this feel-good fundraiser to support and improve their mental health.
I look forward to supporting students and staff at the University of Sussex, King’s College, London and Coleg Gwent as they take on their BRIT 2021 Challenge.”
Rose was born in Abergavenny, Wales and was playing hockey in the junior age group national teams from the age of 13.
Between 2010 and 2013, Rose completed her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science at the University of Sussex.
Since her Senior debut in September 2011, and for almost 10 years now, Rose has represented Wales in International hockey. She is the current Number 1 Goalkeeper and Vice-Captain of Senior Wales Women's Team, with over 70 international caps. Rose has represented Wales at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, five European Championships and has been the recipient of two Goalkeeper of the Tournament Awards.
Between 2015 and 2016, Rose completed her Post Graduate in Health Studies at King’s College, London.
Rose received her first cap for Great Britain in 2018.
In December 2020, Rose was appointed as a Mentor with the True Athlete Project (TAP). This is a unique mentoring program that matches aspiring young athletes (aged 15 – 24) with world-class current or former champions in a nurturing year-long relationship. With the support of the TAP Team, the pair journey together through their holistic, 5-themed curriculum;

In January 2021, Rose was appointed as a Diversity Champion and member of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion working group at Hockey Wales; the National Governing Body for hockey in Wales. Rose supports Hockey Wales’ commitment to;

Rose has played club hockey for Wimbledon, Lewes Hockey Club and Newport Ladies Hockey Club. She currently plays for Holcombe Hockey Club in the Women’s England Hockey League Premier Division.
