We are thrilled that Paralympian, Danielle Browne MBE, has joined our BRIT Ambassador family.
Danielle is a double Paralympic gold medallist in archery, five time World Champion and was World Number 1 for her entire career. She also achieved something that very few disabled athletes manage when she successfully transitioned onto the able-bodied team.
“BRIT’s vision is to support young adult mental health through their UK-wide events. The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the mental health challenges that young adults face and, due to restrictions, is affecting their participation in sporting and fundraising activities. Sport has the power to drive change.
BRIT is inviting the 450 UK universities and colleges to embrace the BRIT 2021 Challenge and share this exciting feel-good fundraising opportunity with their students so they can take part safely, be that on campus or at home. I hope every Student Union will champion and take on the BRIT 2021 Challenge.”

Danielle's plans came crashing to a halt when she was struck down with a disability as a teenager that severely effected her mobility. She was diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, a rare and very painful condition in her feet.
Determined to live life on her terms, Danielle looked around for a sport that didn't involve lots of running around or walking and took up archery on her 15th birthday. This was the first step on a journey that saw Danielle's rise to Paralympic glory and she dominating her field for over eight years. During this time, she successfully juggled a law degree and achieved first class honours.
Her sporting accomplishments include;
2013 - Paralympic World Championships, Bangkok: 2 x silver medals
2013 - World Championships, Turkey: 4th place in the women's compound team (able-bodied)
2012 - London Paralympic Games: gold in the open women's event.
2012 - World Cup Finals, Tokyo: silver medal in the able-bodied women's event
2012 - Gold at the Nimes Indoor World Cup (able-bodied).
2011 - Paralympic World Championships, Turin: 1 x gold and 2 x silver medals.
2010 - Commonwealth Games, Delhi: gold team medal, where she was the first disabled competitor to represent England in an able-bodied discipline.
2010 - European Championships, Vichy: 2 x gold medals and 1 x silver medal.
2009 - Paralympic World Championships, Czech Republic: 2 x gold medals.
2008 - Beijing Paralympic Games: gold medal.
2007 - Paralympic World Championships, Korea: 2 x gold medals.
In 2019, Danielle was inducted into the British University and College Sport (BUCS) Hall of Fame by HRH The Princess Royal.
In 2016, Danielle Won the Women of the Future Award in the sports category, for achievements in sport and current work in the field of gender equality.
In 2015, Danielle received an honorary fellowship from the University of Wolverhampton for her services to sport and her work with sports students.
In 2014, Danielle was awarded the Freedom of the City of London and made a Freeman Archer of the Worshipful Company of Fletchers.
In 2013, Danielle received an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws from the University of Leicester.
In 2012, Danielle was awarded a MBE for services to archery in the New Years Honours list and the Alumni Achievement of the Year Award from the University of Leicester.
In 2010, Danielle graduated from the University of Leicester with a first class law degree.
