We are sincerely grateful to the Committee of University of Chairs (CUC) for all their support over the past two years and are delighted that they are continuing to partner with us and support the BRIT 2021 Challenge.
In 2019, Chris Sayers, the Chair of the CUC, provided the opportunity to address all University Chairs at their Autumn Plenary in London.
With the advice and backing from Chris and the Secretary of the CUC, John Rushforth, the CUC then championed our BRIT 2020 Row Britannia Challenge and every University Chair was challenged to secure £12,000 through pledges from businesses. If all 135 University Chairs had reached their target, they would have raised over £1.5million for young adult mental health.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions and the national lock-down in March 2020, this became an impossible challenge. Undeterred, the CUC are continuing to support BRIT and have urged every University Chair to champion the BRIT 2021 Challenge and use their influence to secure funding for our operational costs.
“The Committee of University Chairs wholeheartedly supports The British Inspiration Trust (BRIT) and the aims of the BRIT 2021 Challenge - to deliver an inclusive, UK-wide, mental health, fitness and wellbeing event for the benefit of students, staff and the wider community.
I encourage every University Chair to work with their Vice-Chancellors, and with local College Principles, to fully embrace this inspirational challenge that has the potential to make a huge difference in support of young adult mental health.
University Chairs are highly influential and well connected; I therefore urge them to invite businesses and corporations to either sponsor BRIT or make a donation in order to cover the operational costs of the BRIT 2021 Challenge."

With COVID-19 restrictions still in place, securing donations and sponsorship during these challenging times is tough.
BRIT needs operational funding to deliver our annual BRIT Challenges. Our request to the CUC is to challenge all of the 135 University Chairs to secure either a donation or sponsorship of £2,021 from businesses and corporations throughout the UK so that we can continue to support and improve young adult and student mental health.
This collectively powerful approach to raising funds and sponsorship has huge potential for success; 135 businesses and corporations either donating or sponsoring BRIT with £2,021 of unrestricted funds would enable us to deliver the BRIT 2021 Challenge and coordinate future annual BRIT Challenges in support of young adult mental health throughout the UK.
We are sincerely grateful to the CUC for continuing to partner with us and champion our BRIT 2021 Challenge. For information on how to donate or sponsor BRIT, please visit the Support BRIT page on our website.
