The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) embraces and champions the BRIT 2021 Challenge

We are sincerely grateful to The University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) for their support to The British Inspiration Trust (BRIT) and our annual challenges over the past two years.

With an academic background in sport science, the Vice Chancellor of UCLan, Professor Graham Baldwin, embraced our BRIT 2020 Row Britannia Challenge with great enthusiasm.

It was a pleasure to be hosted at their Preston Campus in February 2020 and meet staff and students from the university. We were most grateful to Michael Ahern, the Chief Information and Infrastructure Officer, who coordinated the visit as part of our 5-month tour of UK universities and colleges.

COVID-19 restrictions ended UCLan's BRIT 2020 Row Britannia Challenge, however, since March 2020, it has been a delight to forge a close relationship with the university. The support from the Director of Sport, Dr Adrian Ibbetson, has been tremendous and we are also grateful to Sarah Gunn, the Executive Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for all her help.

We are delighted that UCLan are embracing the BRIT 2021 Challenge and championing the opportunity for staff and students to take part in order to support and improve young adult mental health.

“The University of Central Lancashire is committed to improving and supporting mental health in both students and staff. As a large provider of health and care programmes we ensure that our research brings benefit to patients and vulnerable people who are diagnosed, supported and cared for because of mental health needs.

We are inspired by the vision of the British Inspiration Trust (BRIT) and by their collaborative approach to working to support students. COVID-19 restrictions sadly ended our BRIT 2020 Row Britannia Challenge so we welcome the 2021 challenge and look forward to encouraging all our students to take part both on campus and at home.”
